6. Facilities

The facilities work group is concerned with the standards and development of facilities for preschool programs. This group will examine issues such as declining enrollment and its impact for creating facilities in communities with a high preschool gap. It will explore the feasibility of contracting with existing community-based facilities to provide additional space for preschool that would begin closing the gap. This work group would also make recommendations regarding the identification of new parcels of land in areas with large preschool gaps where facilities could be developed. Finally, the work group will propose approaches to financing so that adequate and appropriate facilities can be developed in strategically important communities.
The work to be accomplished should be staged into 2, 5, and 7 year goals.
