About the Electronic Parent Focus Group
If you are a parent of young children who is concerned about their development and influences, we think you would make a great addition to our national electronic focus group. We are dedicated to helping families reach their potential in every way possible, and our work reflects the multiple ways we have achieved this goal: from improving the content of children’s television, to developing work-family initiatives, and by contributing to sound educational policy and programs (find out more in our Media and Consulting sections). We are forming a national, electronic, focus group to give parents a chance to provide input on products, services and even public policy development through the projects we manage. We would be honored for you to join this effort.

What’s involved?
About once a month we’ll conduct a short internet poll on different topics. We might ask for open ended comments on a particular subject where we are doing work. Other times we might poll using multiple choice types of questions. Your input is qualitative---meaning quality people giving thoughtful responses to the questions we pose. Your responses will be simple to produce, and they will be secure and confidential.
If you join us you will be in the equivalent of a “braintrust” of parents around the country. We are developing a group of everyday parents who choose to be insightful and somewhat preoccupied about their role and point of view as parents.
It doesn’t matter if you are a stay at home mom (SAHM), work at home mom (WAHM), a work outside the home mom (WOHM) or a DAD! We want to hear from a diverse group of women and men who live in different regions of the country including suburban and urban locales, and who have wide-ranging interests and backgrounds.
Requirements
Aside from fitting the description above, you will be asked to tell us a little about yourself so that we can properly analyze the data that you, as our family experts, will provide. You will not have to give your name, but we will need an email address to contact you for the polls. We will also develop a demographic profile that includes your age range, nationality or racial classification, family income range, brief work description (WAHM, SAHM, F/T, P/T), and ages of your kids. All information will be confidential and not personally identifiable.
We hope to get your input on the hot topics and common challenges that most parents face. For example, we may ask questions pertaining to the difficulty of disciplining your children, how you feel about your many household responsibilities, and even what hopes you have for your relationship with your spouse. If we ever cross your line, just let us know you won‘t be answering those questions. No problem.
“Why Me” you ask?
We hope that you will help us because we think you have something to offer; we consider you an expert because you are living the process of managing a family! You are maintaining a family and doing your best to have a balanced life. We believe you have an important perspective. We need and value your opinions.

It will take less than two minutes, but it could very well give you a voice to influence the products, services and media programs that are available to you and your family now and in the future.
Sincerely,
Karen Hill Scott, Ed.D.
